The next generation of personal indoor air quality monitoring.

A New Vision for Personal Air Quality Monitoring

What if your indoor air quality monitor was as easy to carry as your bank card?

The AirSpot Slim Card is our vision for the next evolution of personal indoor air quality monitoring—a credit card-sized device designed to make measuring indoor air quality effortless.

Rather than carrying a separate monitor, the Slim Card has been designed to attach magnetically to the back of a smartphone, with the long-term goal of seamless integration into phone cases and other everyday accessories.

Our aim is simple:

Make measuring the air around you as easy as checking the time.

Where Are We Up To?

The AirSpot Slim Card has progressed significantly over the past year.

Working closely with Genesys Electronics Design, we have developed and evaluated multiple hardware iterations as we refine the design towards a robust, manufacturable product.

We are now in our second prototype round, with encouraging progress across several key areas.

The current prototype:

  • Connects seamlessly with the AirSpot smartphone app

  • Provides reliable carbon dioxide measurements

  • Demonstrates stable Bluetooth connectivity

  • Confirms the viability of the overall hardware architecture

  • Continues to improve in both usability and manufacturability

Each prototype teaches us something new, allowing us to refine the electronics, mechanics and user experience before moving towards production.

Powered by the STCC4 Sensor

At the heart of the Slim Card is the STCC4 carbon dioxide sensor from STMicroelectronics.

The STCC4 has enabled us to move towards an ultra-thin design while delivering:

  • Low power consumption

  • Excellent long-term stability

  • Reliable CO₂ measurements

  • Compact dimensions suitable for a credit card-sized device

As sensor technology continues to evolve, devices like the Slim Card become increasingly practical for everyday use.

Designed Around Your Smartphone

Rather than duplicating capabilities already available in modern smartphones, the AirSpot Slim Card has been designed to work alongside them.

Your smartphone already provides:

  • A high-resolution display

  • Processing power

  • GPS

  • Internet connectivity

  • Notifications

  • Cloud synchronisation

By allowing the smartphone to perform these tasks, the Slim Card can remain remarkably thin while maintaining excellent battery life and a simple user experience.

What's Next?

Over the coming months we'll continue refining:

  • Hardware design

  • Manufacturing processes

  • Mechanical durability

  • Battery performance

  • Calibration

  • User experience

  • Production readiness

At the same time, we're preparing for the next exciting milestone.

Kickstarter Coming Soon

The AirSpot Slim Card will soon launch on Kickstarter, allowing early supporters to become part of the project's next chapter.

The campaign will help us move from prototype development towards larger-scale manufacturing while building a community of people passionate about healthier indoor environments.

More details will be announced as development progresses.

Open Source by Design

Like every AirSpot project, the Slim Card is being developed using an open-source copyleft philosophy.

We believe healthier indoor air should benefit from collaboration rather than unnecessary duplication.

Where appropriate, the hardware, firmware and software developed as part of the project will be released under open-source copyleft licences.

This allows others to:

  • Learn from our work

  • Build upon existing designs

  • Improve the technology

  • Adapt it for local needs

  • Share improvements with the wider community

Rather than creating isolated products, we hope to help build an ecosystem of compatible technologies working towards the same goal.

Why Open Source?

Open development has accelerated innovation across countless industries.

We believe it can do the same for indoor air quality.

An open-source approach encourages:

  • Transparency

  • Independent review

  • Faster innovation

  • Global collaboration

  • Lower barriers to adoption

  • Greater interoperability

  • Community-driven improvements

Ultimately, our goal isn't simply to build another air quality monitor.

It's to help create a global ecosystem of technologies that make healthier indoor air easier to achieve for everyone.

How You Can Help

The AirSpot Slim Card continues to evolve, and there are several ways you can help bring the project to life.

You can support the project by:

  • Purchasing an AirSpot Screen device

  • Making a donation to support ongoing development

  • Sharing the project with friends, colleagues and organisations

  • Following our progress and providing feedback

  • Keeping an eye out for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign

Every purchase, donation and supporter helps us move one step closer to making personal indoor air quality monitoring smaller, simpler and more accessible for everyone.

Looking Ahead

The AirSpot Slim Card represents much more than a smaller air quality monitor.

It represents a future where measuring indoor air quality becomes part of everyday life.

Small enough to carry anywhere.

Simple enough for everyone.

Open enough for the world to improve together.

This is just the beginning, and we're excited to have you with us as we continue the journey.
