We're excited to announce the AirSpot calculator - an extra function added to the AirSpot App!
At a glance it will provide a more tangible estimate of the air quality calculated from the measured carbon dioxide level in the air.
Based on a carbon dioxide level the calculator will provide the following 3 estimates:
- Percentage of re-breathed air
- Fraction of breaths taken that are from others (breath backwash) eg 1 in 25
- Increased risk (times increased over baseline fresh air) of airborne infection eg 5 times increased risk…
There are several studies which have looked at how best to estimate these values and we have adopted them in our calculator - take a look at the reference list below.
Further, while it is difficult, we would like to introduce an 'absolute risk' of transmission or infection where other parameters are controlled for. One could then alter different parameters to assess the magnitude of impact on this risk.
Any help in this regard would be extremely appreciated. Thank you to everyone who has lent their support so far - looking forward to releasing the calculator on the AirSpot App soon.
