Improving Air Quality in Schools - What Can We Do?

UNISON has joined with the CORSI_ROSENTIAL Foundation UK and other UK trade unions with members in education to host this webinar on exploring the impact of polluted air on the health, attendance and performance of students and staff, and practical solutions to put in place to clean the air we breathe.

When we breathe polluted air, chemicals and particulates get into our lungs, enter the bloodstream and are carried to internal organs, where they can cause a serious impact on our health.

Children are particularly sensitive to the dangerous effects of toxic air pollution, with asthma rising significantly and concerns about the long-term impact of respiratory viruses.

Research has shown simple actions - ventilate and filter – result in cleaner air and have the potential to significantly improve the health, attendance and performance of students and staff.

  • Our expert speakers will explore:·
  • How polluted the air is in schools can be.
  • The health impact on staff and pupils.
  • How improving air quality can significantly reduce sickness absence and improve attendance.
  • What can be done relatively simply to clean the air.
